In order to get to know me a little better, I asked a few of my friends to describe me in 3 words or phrases. I thought this would be slightly more truthful than describing myself, however of course my friends are hardly neutral since (I hope at least) they like me… A few words came up a lot, so I’m guessing they’re true, and some surprised me a little I won’t lie, but I can definitely see where they come from in a sense…
After having asked 10 people, some quick maths can quite easily show I have 30 words (#clever…) which are:
- Well composed/civilised (by which I think she means I have running water)
- Intelligent but stubborn
- Always Wright (#ifyouknowyouknow)
- Beautiful (ah finally one about my appearance!!! Not sure what I’m supposed to take from that)
- Dependent (e.g. the can’t really fend for myself in the wild)
- Loves chocolate
- Frightfully stubborn
I suppose I should be pleased that they’re all pretty positive, but it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t comment on them…
So ‘clever’ and ‘stubborn’ came up a lot, and apparently I’m ‘frightfully’ so for person number 10 – probably the only time I’ve been described as a variation of ‘frightening’ if I’m honest. There’s probably only one with which I kind of disagree – tenacious. I think that’s one which most definitely depends on the circumstances although of course I try my best, since for me not being in control drives me crazy.
To me, this was somewhat interesting to see how those in different friendship groups view me, and possibly indicating how the dynamic of those relationships vary. For example with some of my friends, being ‘mature’ can be a bit of a chore however with others, when our chats are more serious my more joking side seems to hide itself away better than a criminal escaping from MI5. If you’re an astrology enthusiast, you may be joining the dots to view my Gemini constellation, but I’m afraid I can’t agree that life is dependent on the stars in any way.
I was rather tempted to ask people who I don’t get along with to also give some words, but I wasn’t prepared for a personal attack, come full blown war. And I would particularly like to say I did not conduct this ‘experiment’ for an ego boost, but it certainly was nice to be described as complementary phrases that I wouldn’t usually be told.
Writing more informally does seem a little alien to me, and writing so much about myself feels even more like foreign territory so I can imagine cringing deeply at this in a few years time. However, after publishing 29 posts, I thought regular readers may appreciate knowing a little more about my personality and so there it is! My entire self summed up in less than 30 words…
